Superstitions part 1 - The Veil

“When you get married be very careful as to who raises your face veil. Make sure that, that person is not a widow or a divorcee or a childless lady” he rambled off to me a few days ago.

“What’s the big deal?” I said.

“It is very bad for the bride coz most of the time, she ends up with some ill fate. Like her marriage will go on the rocks or she won’t be able to bare children or something bad like that” He said.

“All rubbish, I don’t believe in all that jazz, whatever that’s meant to be will happen.
We can’t change our fate and besides it’s not right to treat people like the plague just coz they are a widow, childless or a divorcee” I said.

“Your very head strong” He said.

“Que Sera Sera.... whatever will be will be” I remember saying and wrapping up the conversation. (Que Sera Sera… are the words off an old vintage song)

Are you a superstitious person???

I don’t know about you all but I sure don’t believe in such superstitions even though many of my relatives are quite superstitious. I think all these superstitious norms are nothing less than manmade nonsense.

(I know that everyone has the right to have their own views and I hope that I haven’t offended anyone of you readers who are superstitious.)

I BELIEVE,

that what has to happen will happen whether we like it or not.

that you can’t change your FATE.

that you have to make the best of life with what you have.

hmmm.. well i'd like to think of myself as not being superstitious, but i often find myself curious as to their origins. every superstition has a story behind it.

Yep those superstitions.....

But what about FATE? It is also a superstition to me. If what has to happen would happen anyway why all these hard work?
TheWhacksteR.....i dont know but i dont think that all superstitions have a story behind it

Kasun...I don’t see FATE as a superstition. As FATE and superstition are total opposites. Fate is what is destine to happen one day. I guess we put ourselves through all the hard work so that we can live a quality life while we walk down the journey of life
