I read in the “Sunday Times” newspaper last week (26th Nov 2006) that some Sri Lankan students out of a group of fellow students were refused visas to UK on flimsy grounds. Apparently they had applied for visas in order to attend their convocation in UK. It’s really disgusting to see how we Sri Lankan’s are treated with little or No respect at every side we turn. Well, I am not oblivious to the fact that there are quite a number of illegal immigrants from Sir Lanka. But then again it’s not fair to measure everyone with the same yard stick…. I really don’t understand how on earth the real culprits wriggle their way through the embassy while the genuine people get rejected. Money sure talks in today’s world and the innocent just get steam rolled….. In fact I know a person who applied for a Schengen visa at the French Embassy, in order to travel to Spain on a holiday to visit her uncle but was rejected on both occasions that she applied.
