Can’t someone put this Crooked System to Right ??

I read in the “Sunday Times” newspaper last week (26th Nov 2006) that some Sri Lankan students out of a group of fellow students were refused visas to UK on flimsy grounds. Apparently they had applied for visas in order to attend their convocation in UK.

It’s really disgusting to see how we Sri Lankan’s are treated with little or No respect at every side we turn. Well, I am not oblivious to the fact that there are quite a number of illegal immigrants from Sir Lanka. But then again it’s not fair to measure everyone with the same yard stick….

I really don’t understand how on earth the real culprits wriggle their way through the embassy while the genuine people get rejected. Money sure talks in today’s world and the innocent just get steam rolled…..

In fact I know a person who applied for a Schengen visa at the French Embassy, in order to travel to Spain on a holiday to visit her uncle but was rejected on both occasions that she applied. When it comes to the French Embassy no reason is given for visa refusal which is even worse.

To add to it all I learnt that she had to practically camp outside the French embassy from 9am in the morning till 9am the next morning coz otherwise it was simply impossible to secure a number as they only issued 15 numbers at a time. (Even to hand-in the visa applications)

Thank God for little mercies, coz now the French Embassy has outsourced the process of processing the applications….

Why do some Sri Lankans stuck-up to some of the White skinned people and think that they are some “Alpha figure” when some of them treat our fellow Sri Lankan like dirt???

Sri Lankan’s, what happened to our Self Dignity??

Aren’t you proud to be a Sri Lankan???

ya the system sure sucks... But there's little we can do about it at the moment...

By the way I know a girl who had to camp outside the French embassy to get a visa to Spain to visit her uncle as well...

Are we talking about the same person?
Hey Dark Horse,
I have no idea whether we are talking about the same person, as all applicants had to go through the same third degree treatment at the embassy.

Nevertheless the outline of your story seems pretty much the same to mine. Who knows we may be talking about the same person or it even may be two different people who have suffered the same fate.

Nevertheless, Dark Horse I don’t like to divulge her name as I believe such sensitive information should not be publicised on the internet as a diverse spectrum of people browser through it.

Do you really hope ‘Self Dignity’ to come in between France and Sri Lanka? Hell No! Hey, Don’t get upset – we have hope – go to Nigambo.

Tell me a one good reason for me to be proud.

Hey. I know the feelings. But don’t get upset. Even Indian embassy treats us the same way. After all we can’t even balance our budget without whiteboy’s support.

It is very expensive to be poor. And poor don’t have right to get mad. So don’t be upset – it is worth every minute you wait outside embassy gates under burning sun...

don't u hv to camp outside most embassies when u apply for visas these days? even the French embassy in London makes u stand outside till it's the right time for your appointment b4 they let u in.when i wanted to get my UK visa extended at the Home Office in Croydon i have stood outside from 5am cos that's the time ppl start q'ing up to get in when the doors open at 8 or 9am.. at least it's sunny in Cmb,not like standing outside in the freezing cold..think of the bright side :)
